Yes
and I out-rank you Lieutenant Willits. Just be sure you salute me when I'm on
official business.
Told
him to hold the shot gun tight against his shoulder. Well, he held it in his
armpit. When the gun went off it scraped his fingers and sailed in back of him
4 feet. I was really concerned and he just replied, "What's the fuss?"
Sure,
just small Texas jaunt. Watch TV or watch the scenery, both are fun when your
drive your Home. When driving the RV, except for rough weather, the drive is
never bad.

Because
you were already a Texan Ann Richards made you an Admiral in the Texas Navy.
You gained rank quicker then me. I was an Ensign in four months. You were an
Admiral in four minutes. You know, my rank is a little less.
Let's
drop by Clyde, Texas and see Ma and Dad.
From humid Houston summer demo, to dry Abilene visiting Teri's
folks.
Dry Rio Grand in El Paso to Texarkana's forest of wondrous old oaks.
Crossed Texas both ways, wonderful, just a long way between shops.
There at age 15,30,45 and 60, with adventures and many nice stops.
Tough lady, Ann Richards, Governor of Texas, I thought at
first meeting.
Ann flew into Texarkana to honor our company with a nice Texas greeting.
At Local Chamber of Commerce, officially an Honorary Texan I became.
Texan, friends allowed, but found I moved from honorary to 'ornery' fame.
Shady Park Texarkana is our RV Park, 120 acres of old oaks
and pines.
Memories of hard working Texas friends, of telling stories & sharing wines.
Watching the 1000's of yellow rubber ducks flowing in the charity race.
A friend running down a poacher on my land, disarming him face to face.
Teri and Roland both walked across the border from El Paso
to Mexico.
Roland 14 from Minnesota, Teri 16 from Abilene, years before espresso.
Never met that we know, similar experiences, wearing Bermuda shorts.
Mexican Girls call her hussy, Boys call me sissy in their mocking sports.
Driving by quilted steeples of Texas churches with stain
glass windows,
Would take Teri and I into some fun discussions on religion and widows.
She raised Southern Baptist and me a Roman Catholic to the hilt.
Always-instant agreement on both being given the special gift of guilt.
Austin
demo. The KOA RV Park was very clean, however KOA's are that way around the
whole country.
TEXAS
(Lone Star State)
That's
a wonderful story. Learning about where the career of Elvis Presley begin.
Remember
when you taught Mark to shoot at Ma's house.
Went
to the Austin Gun club, met local Doctor and Lawyer who asked me to join them
at the skeet range. I have shot trap, but I have not shot skeet. There are differences
that can embarrass a beginner. They were great teachers, allowing all my mistakes
and both had a wonderful sense of humor. Their banter and the heavy Texas accent
amused me for a couple of hours. I laughed when remembering that my very early
model of a Texan was Gene Autry.
Road
with him in his Pink Cadillac from a Club to an Abilene Drive In. The girls
in the short pink and white petticoat skirts, roller-skated up to the car. We
went inside to the booths and the King went right to the Jukebox. Pulled out
a quarter from his white flared trousers with spangles. Put in the quarter and
listened to only one choice; Blue Suede Shoes. With this song, he would really
start to win.
It
has been forty some years since that day. You used your poetic license my dear.
What I do remember is that all my friends stood and just watched Elvis sing.
I was pissed. I didn't drive fifty miles to watch some grease haired kid bouncing
around stage. I wanted to dance. He actually wore tan slacks. He played his
records over and over again all night. It is true, a group of friends and I
did drive with him in his car to the drive-in. It was not a Pink Cadillac.
Tell
me again about your 50's adventure with America's King.
For
doing a little coloring, I am being put on the rack.
